Palisades Outreach Day I

What a blessing last Saturday morning was, as 27 members from Calvary Church came together with one desire, to show Christ to our community by serving and providing tangible needs. Amen Bains led a team down at the YMCA Park on the corner of Sunset and Temesscal called Simon Meadow. Steve and Susie Faubion led a team down at the Palisades Rec Center. Finally, Marc and Julie Davies led a team to serve their neighborhood. We look forward to continuing this tradition and finding more ways to serve the community we love. Girls Night Out Recap

Another fun night of the girls getting together. Our 2nd "Girl's Night Out" held at the home of Jane Thomas was a smash.The menu was three delicious soups, salad and fresh baked breads followed by incredible home baked desserts. Our "get to know you" game encouraged us to learn about each other. After dinner followed an amazing time of worship lead by Tracey Taylor and a precious time of sharing by Carole Ruge. Spring Outreach Events

We are excited to announce our first three outreach projects. Each of the projects are aimed to both display love in tangible ways to those in need and to be an ambassador of Christ to our community. This year we are doing a local Palisades outreach day where we will be doing local work projects around town. We are also heading back to the Union Rescue Mission for our annual Kids Carnival. Lastly, a small team from Calvary will be heading to North Sioux City, South Dakota, to participate in a domestic disaster relief outreach trip.

AWANA Kickoff!

Our Student Ministries are back in action this week, so please have your student join us! Our Middle School Youth Group meets every Wednesday evening, 7:00-8:30pm in the Student Center. Optional drop-in begins at 6pm. High School Youth Group meets Thursdays, 7:00-8:30pm. Shawn Gendall, our Pastor of Student Ministries, sends regular email updates to parents of students. Christmas Concert

Wanted to send out a special thank you to all of those who attended the Christmas Concert last Saturday at Calvary Church. With your help, we were able to raise over $4,000 towards the Union Rescue Mission Christmas Store. The Christmas Store, happening this Thursday and Friday, is the avenue for the children of Union Rescue Mission to get presents. Small Group URM Serve

One of our Calvary small groups, led by Ron & Grace Shigematsu, spent an evening helping with a dinner serve at the Union Rescue Mission. On that particular night, the staff needed more help in the kitchen rather than serving meals to those experiencing homelessness. They were already gearing up for Thanksgiving dinner by cutting donated bread into cubes for stuffing (Patti Stennett and Keli Meyers) and taking the turkey meat off the bone, storing and freezing it.
